Coronavirus Information

UPDATE 23/01/2022

Under the Red Alert Level, Cassidy Eyecare will be open and trading as usual.  As per Ministry of Health requirements, all our staff are fully vaccinated.

A few points to to note:

  • Inside our premises, mask wearing is required for both staff and patients.  Please let us know ahead of time if you have a mask exemption.
  • As per Ministry of Health policy, vaccine passports are NOT required and we will not be checking your vaccination status.
  • Please don't attend if you're feeling unwell.  Come and see us another time.

As usual, this whole situation is difficult for all of us.  We appreciate the patience everyone has been showing throughout the pandemic.

UPDATE 22/11/2021

Following the recent announcement from the Ministry of Health, Allied Health professionals such as optometrists are now allowed to see their patients (Yay!).

The general guidance is that strictly routine care should be postponed until we move into the Traffic Light system, if possible.

However, we are now able to see our patients that are struggling with imperfect vision due to needing new glasses or contact lenses, as well as those with broken glasses or ocular health problems.

To reduce the risk of COVID infections, we ask that you phone/email us to arrange an appointment, even for the sort of routine repairs that you could normally get done on a walk-in basis.

All our staff are fully vaccinated, and disinfection measures are in place.

We look forward to seeing you!

UPDATE 21/09/2021

From Wednesday 22/09/2021 Auckland will be at Alert Level 3 for at least 2 weeks.

At Cassidy Eyecare, we will be open 9am-12pm Monday to Friday during Level 3.  We are seeing people by appointment only.

We are able to help with urgent/emergency situations, such as lost/broken glasses or urgent eye problems.  We can also arrange for collection or courier of any orders.  Contact lenses can be ordered and contactless delivery arranged.

We are not open for routine/non-urgent eye examinations or spectacle sales.

Please phone the practices, or email if you'd like to see us.

Normal hours & services will resume at Alert Level 2.

UPDATE 18/08/2021

Following the announcement of Level 4 restrictions, Cassidy Eyecare is CLOSED.  We anticipate re-opening when Auckland returns to Level 2, whenever that may be.

To get in touch, email us on:

Stay safe!

UPDATE 08/02/2021

As Auckland has now moved to Level 2, we are able to open again. As always, we have plenty of sanitiser on hand and are able to trade safely.  We do ask that you stay home if you're suffering from cold or flu symptoms.

UPDATE 28/02/2021

Following the latest COVID outbreak, Cassidy Eyecare is closed again due to the Level 3 restrictions in the Auckland region.  We will re-open when Auckland returns to Alert Level 2.

For urgent problems please email us:

UPDATE 17/02/2021

Cassidy Eyecare will re-open tomorrow: Thursday 18 February.  See you then!

UPDATE 14/02/2021

Well, we're closed again!  We will re-open when Auckland returns to Level 2, hopefully later this week.

UPDATE 14/08/2020

Due to the latest outbreak, Cassidy Eyecare is closed, except for urgent appointments. We will be re-opening 9am Monday 31 August.

Under Level 3, optometrists are able to see patients with urgent needs (see examples below from 26 April post). If you need help with your eyes that can't wait, please email us on and we'll sort something out.

UPDATE 08/06/2020

We're at Level 1!

As of midnight tonight, NZ moves to Alert Level 1.  This means that from Tuesday 9 June, we can essentially trade as normal.  We are still required to maintain a contact tracing register, and we'll maintain our habits of super-hygiene that we've had over the Coronavirus period, but it's basically back to normal.

Nice one NZ!

UPDATE: 15/05/2020

We are now open!

As NZ moved to Alert Level 2 on 14 May 2020, Cassidy Eyecare has re-opened.  We are trading our normal business hours.

While we are open for routine eyecare, it's not quite business as usual.  Please DO NOT come and see us if:

  • You have had contact with a known or suspected COVID-19 case in the past 2 weeks
  • You have any cold or flu symptoms

We also ask that you phone ahead to arrange a time to visit us.  We are trying to avoid having too many people in the office at any time, and booking an appointment allows us to ensure that we can see you on time, and helps minimise the possibility of spread of the coronavirus.

We have plenty of hand sanitiser, and good hygiene systems in place.

We look forward to seeing you!

UPDATE: 26/04/2020

NZ went into a Level 4 Coronavirus lockdown on 25/03/2020, closing all businesses except essential services.  NZ will be moving to Alert Level 3 on 28/04/2020, which is scheduled to last 2 weeks.

Cassidy Eyecare, along with other NZ Optometrists, will not be opening under Alert Level 3.  This is in accordance with guidance from the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Optometrists & Dispensing Opticians Board (ODOB).

We anticipate re-opening when NZ moves to Alert Level 2.  This will not be earlier than 11/05/2020.

Although we will not be opening for normal business at Alert Level 3, we are able to help clients in emergency situations.  Examples provided by MOH are:

  • Acute eye heath care needs
  • The repair and/or supply of prescription glasses and contact lenses required to ensure that a person has the ability to carry out their usual life activities
  • Urgent eye health examinations that cannot be postponed
  • The supply of new eye wear only in circumstances where the customer cannot make do with their current eye wear because it is either broken, lost or is no longer providing them the vision they need to operate a normal life

If you are in need of urgent eyecare or replacement of eyewear, please get in touch with us and we'll do our best to help.  The best way is by email, using the Contact Us form on our website.  For emergency advice, please call Troy on 027 216 1972.

We look forward to being back at work and seeing you soon!
